Samadi May Happenings

Samadi May Happenings

Hi friends!Last month we talked about plastic and how to avoid collecting unnecessary pieces of plastic that too often end up polluting the earth. Not accepting plastic straws when you order a drink and maybe buying a bamboo, glass or steel straw to carry with you. Having a water bottle with you and refilling it instead of buying bottled water. Bringing a bag with you when you go shopping and saying no to plastic bags.  To support this movement we  are not allowing plastic bags at the Sunday Market, starting now. So please bring your own bag to carry home your shopping goodies.

There are countless small actions we all can take in our daily lives to be more conscious consumers. When we buy new things we can choose to contribute to the health and wellness of people and the environment. We can choose to take responsibility for our purchases. For example, do you know how and where your clothes are produced? Who made them? What are the costs to the environment and people making the clothes? In Samadi we support sustainable and ethical fashion. Did you know we have our own consciously-produced yoga clothing brand, Samadi Wear, made locally in Bali? Read more in this newsletter what’s that all about.

Be part of the change!

Ethically and sustainably made yoga clothes

Looking for new yoga clothes and accessories? Come to check out our shop! Among other treasures, you can find Samadi Wear, a consciously-produced, creatively-driven yogawear brand that unites style with sustainability. Made by a yogi, for yogis.

Beautiful and durable by design, each Samadi Wear piece is handcrafted from natural fabrics such as cotton, bamboo or tencel. Nothing synthetic is used in the clothing and all the colours are from natural dyes. Since the gorgeous patterns are created using pure vegetable dye, each piece is wonderfully unique from the next. In addition, there is also a collection made of fully organic fabrics.

Born from the desire to create beautiful clothing that is ethically produced, SamadiWear is handmade in Bali by a third-generation Balinese tailor who is fairly compensated for his time and expertise. Ensuring waste is kept to a minimum, leftover fabric is donated to The Street Mums Association, which makes dolls for the children of homeless Balinese mothers.

Kirtans and Bhajans

May 29th, 19.30 – 20.30

Join us this Full Moon for a heart opening evening of devotion honoring the sacred transformations of reawakening with Ana Lucia.

Kirtan is a form of devotional chanting whose roots go back to India over 500 years. It is a form of Bhakti Yoga (yoga of devotion) and has the power to open the heart. The singing is accompanied by musical instruments and rhythmic drumming while the audience is encouraged to participate by chanting, clapping and dancing. Explore kirtan and bhajans, connecting with the qualities of Indian deities.

The ancient tradition of Kirtan raises consciousness through group chanting. The Bhakti Mamas will sing English and Sanskrit music using call and response and solo vocals. The beautiful vocal harmonies will be combined with music from a guitar and harmonium. Kirtan uses the human voice and repetition to calm the mind and lift the spirit.

**Everybody is welcome! No singing background is required.
**Register yourself at Samadi Bali Reception
